Reflections on Commissioning

C.O. Class of May 2014!

Missionaries to England!

So, we were appointed and commissioned last week! Above is a photo of our Candidate Class, all of us were officially appointed to serve in various countries in Europe!

God is really moving us to England! It is like a dream come true! When I look back at the last 3 years, I am just amazed at the ways God has been moving in me to grow me and prepare me. I think in a few ways, I had felt almost entitled to a life as a missionary in England. Like, I had been educated for it, I’d earned it, and I deserved it. But when Ryan and I got engaged, I had to surrender it. I had to let it go, completely. And I had to walk through a really hard season of confusion, and loss of identity, and doubt, which felt like it would never end, but it did! And I came out the other side established. Established in my beliefs, my faith, my identity, and my calling. The Lord brought me to a place where I was prepared to wholeheartedly trust him, and receive from him. And when God opened his hands to reveal England, it was truly a gift. It was something that I had completely given up, and surrendered, and had no longer expected or felt deserving of.

Our Commissioning Service

God gave me the desire of my heart. He has been so faithful, so patient, and so good to me. I can’t help but rejoice in his goodness! There is no place I can go, no obstacle too big, and no circumstance I can enter, where he will not be with me! He is going to use us mightily in England, I have no doubt about that! And it is not because of me, but because of He that is in me.

While in Colorado, we also got to spend some time with a fellow Multnomah grad, Kristen Leach. We are so thankful to her and her parents, who showed us incredible hospitality while we were in town. Kristen even took us sightseeing! We had an incredible time with her, observing the beauty and majesty of God’s creation in Colorado Springs!

We are so thankful for Kristen’s friendship. God is working in amazing ways in her, preparing her to do incredible things for his Kingdom. It is just amazing, the kinds of people that God has placed in our life. We are honored to call you our sister, Kristen!
